Housing Tarantulas
Housing Tarantulas is an art. Yeah.
This has lot of technical matters to be taken care of. This is true
if you are associated with the breeding activities pertaining to the
tarantulas.
Housing tarantulas needs consultation with an experienced person who
owns these tarantulas.
Water container can be kept inside the tank in which tarantulas are kept. However, some pebbles may be kept inside the water container.
This arrangement to be carried out during the housing of these creatures may help them to escape from drowning.
There should not be any pointed object inside the housing design and this helps to avoid any injuries due to the pointed objects.
The humidity inside the tank should not be less than fifty to sixty per cent. If the humidity is less below these levels, the tarantulas may die in the next molting periods. It may be better to have a humidity gauge by pasting it inside the tank.
If the humidity is low, potted plants with adequate water may be kept and this may help to enhance the level of humidity inside the tank. So, you have to understand that during the housing arrangement, it is the humidity that is to be taken care of very seriously.
Similarly, it is better to provide lights with mesh screen and such an arrangement in the housing design may help to avoid the blockage of UV light from falling over the body of these spiders.
Remember that plastic material if used may block the UV lights from entering inside the cage.
Always try to have a good lid over the cage and this helps to prevent the escape of these creatures. Wondering? But, it is true that many incidences of escapes have been documented just because of the poorly designed lid related problems.
Hence, one has to take care in the right placement of lid over the cage and side by side, you should see that the cage is well ventilated one.
If not, there may be problems in the breathing activities of these spiders and may die due to some bacterial infections. It is to be borne in mind that even an arboreal one of tarantula may have a good capacity to climb the cage.
A burrowing type needs leaf materials to at least a depth of ten cm. Similarly, though the lid is provided inside the tank, some barks may be kept inside to facilitate the climbing activities.
The cage size should be bigger than the tarantula with adequate height to encourage the climbing activity and the body movements help for a better digestion in them. Hence, during housing of tarantulas, adequate space needs to be provided. Health problems are minimal if housing of tarantulas is done in an intelligent manner.
